"The original timber bridge had fulfilled its purpose for over sixty years (from 1875) until the decaying of the deck timbers necessitated its replacement (1937-38). The new bridge is constructed of reinforced concrete of a type recently developed, known as "rigid frame" or "square arch"." -- p. 38.
