St John the Baptist Anglican church, Rangiora

This small church of timber, pit-sawn in the bush nearby, was opened in May 1860. The first incumbent was Archdeacon Benjamin Woolley Dudley (1805-1892), originally of Lyttelton, one of the "pilgrim " clergy. The church was enlarged in 1864
