We asked adults over 20 what they would like to do at the new Parklands service and when they would like to visit. Here are some of the suggestions and ideas we heard

- Choosing and returning books
- Visiting the café
- Bringing children/grandchildren

- Meeting friends
- Using the internet
- Watching tv
- Emailing
Other activities that Parklands people would like to do at the library
- Research
- Library classes
- Read magazines
- Computers - individual and classes or lessons how to use IT resources
- Pick up audio books
- Sky sport - cricket
- Bring grandchildren
- Play computer games
- Pay rates
Suggestions for things to consider when designing the building and surrounding area
- Need a contained area for preschooler
- Have separate children's area
- Bike stands in a secure area
- Good selection of books
- Grass area to sit outside and read to children etc
- Play ground
- Somewhere to tie up the dog and water for dogs
- Storyline service with people to help with the catalogue
- Jigsaws
- New books- new Bestsellers books
General comments and concerns expressed
- Pleased for the community definitely needs something do something with the land
- Visiting the library will be combined with shopping
- Community garden a good idea
- This is what we need here to make it a community
- Weekends will be a good family time at the library
- Probably would just whip in and out for books but would get coffee too if it was good quality.

- Community garden - too much vandalism
- Vandalism
- Not keen on a community garden. Have own garden and feel vandalism may be a problem
Opening hours and usage patterns
Adults in Parklands are busy so were quite definite about the times they would want to visit the library. It will be challenging to be able to design a service to suit everyone but we have lots of good information to work with.
