Dear Jeff,
Just a few lines to tell you all the news. I intended to write to you before but I have not been to [sic] fit lately. I was wounded on the 8th of August on the wrist and hip it was eight days before I got here and I have been here twelve days. I suppose you have heard all about it by now. I have had a pretty rough time of it but thank goodness I am improving every day now. They operated on me last night and and [sic] extracted the bullet out of my back. It was causing a lot of trouble and pain. They had to xray me twice before they could locate the bulett [sic]. This is the first day I have felt easy, and free from - Image 1 of 3
