- Transcription pain since I was wounded I have been up once or twice on crutches. If I have any luck I will get to England when the doctor says I am fit to travel. There is such a lot going from here. There is about thirty hospitals here and they are all crowded. The pain and suffering one sees on the Gallipoli Peninsula and in the hospital is terrible. You see arms and legs off and terrible gaping wounds. It is a wonder so many of them survive but the staff here is so attentive, night and day, and never give in We are well treated here we are always getting something from the ladies of Malta pipes cigarettes chocolate biscuits. It is just like home How is everybody round
