Outside the Bryndwr Service Station, corner of Normans and Strowan Roads, Bryndwr
[14 July 1945]
This shows Normans Road after the heaviest snowfall recorded in Christchurch up to that time (13 inches). Tractors and heavy trucks were converted into snow ploughs to clear a route for buses. The bus service terminated here, the bus turning around the grassed triangle. Later the bus service was extended to Penman's store at the corner of Idris and Wairarapa (later Wairakei) Roads. From left: the ladies' hairdresser, the service station, the houses of Bill Neate and Stan Marston
