[ca. 1920]
This was opened on King George V's (1865-1936) birthday, 3 June 1914, by the Minister of Health, the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes (1861-1956). It was primarily established for advanced cases of tuberculosis, most cases being placed there for observation. It was extended at both ends in 1917 and 1921 and a third floor was added in 1930. It was cleared of tubercular patients in 1959 and converted for long-stay geriatric patients. It closed on 16 Dec. 1991
