Barbadoes Street bridge, Christchurch
Barbadoes Street bridge, Christchurch
[189-]
The first bridge on this site, a timber arch, was built in 1879. It was replaced by a concrete bridge in 1957. This photograph was taken by a tourist from England who visited Christchurch in the 1890s. In 1998 his album was brought to Christchurch by a great-nephew who told the Aotearoa New Zealand Centre that the photographs had been rescued from a house bombed during the Blitz in London
