Worcester Street bridge, Christchurch
Worcester Street bridge, Christchurch
[189-]
This bridge was constructed in 1885 by Walter Bory Scott (1851-1922) at a cost of £1984. The balustrades are a fine example of cast-iron work and rest on top of a stone-faced arch. The photograph was taken by a tourist from England who visited Christchurch in the 1890s. In 1998 his album was brought to Christchurch by a great-nephew who told the Aotearoa New Zealand Centre that the photographs had been rescued from a house bombed during the Blitz in London
