Proposed buildings for Cathedral Square, Christchurch, 1929
[1929]
Webb, Steffano Francis, 1880?-1967
This was Exhibit A in a successful action in the Court of Appeal brought by George Gould (1865-1941) and the Save the Square Committee against the Christchurch City Council in 1930. As the existing tram shelter had been constructed on reserve land in 1907, it was considered that the Tramway Board had no legal right to construct buildings on the land. The model was used as evidence to show how extensions to the shelter would hide the Cathedral from view. The shelter was demolished in 1931
