Early morning scene from Bealey Hotel.
Caption: Early morning scene from Bealey Hotel. The above depicts the wonderful scenery through which the railway to the West Coast will pass. In the foreground run the upper reaches of the Waimakariri, which river has to be crossed and re-crossed many times, greatly adding to the picturesqueness of the route. The railway at present skirts the foot of the mountains seen in the picture, but as yet is not open for passenger traffic beyond Cass, seventy-two miles from Christchurch.
Description: On the route of the Midland Railway.
