Caption: The White Bridge, Bealey Gorge. This bridge has lately been rebuilt, and the remains of the old one are clearly visible. All this wonderful scenery will be missed by going through the tunnel, so it will not be surprising if, when the tunnel is completed, some sightseers get off the train at Bealey and continue their journey on foot or by coach over Arthur’s Pass, and catch the train again at Otira.
