Press Co. Building, Cathedral Square, Christchurch - 1919
February 22
- New "Press" building in operation in Cathedral Square. Designed by J. J. Collins and R.D. Harman, it was the city’s first ferro-concrete building.
- March 4
- Te Wai Pounamu Māori Girls College established at Ohoka. The college moved to Christchurch in 1921.
- June 13
- Cafe Continental Hotel at Sumner destroyed by fire.
- June 21
- City’s high pressure water supply in operation.
