Notes: Schedule of sections for sale & lease in perpetuity. In 1893 Sir John McKenzie (18391901), Minister of Lands in Richard Seddon's Liberal government (18911900), was responsible for the government purchase of William (Ready Money) Robinson's Cheviot Hills station and its subsequent subdivision into a large number of small allotments. The township which sprang up to serve the farming community was first named McKenzie after him, but eventually the name of Robinson's station prevailed.
