Erin

As an experienced kindergarten teacher, Rosemary was already aware of the value of introducing children to books early on. The Books for Babies pack did encourage early library membership, which exposed Erin to a wider variety of materials, especially board books. Getting a book for her baby as a gift was unusual and special, and Rosemary thinks it's important for parents to ‘try and expose children to a wide variety of books as early as possible.' Books help develop a rapport between parent and child and offer opportunities for communication.

Adele

Adele was enrolled at the library at three months old. The Books for Babies pack provided an early introduction to books and to the variety of resources offered by the library in general. Her mother feels that Adele progressed quickly at school because of this. She also notes that it was especially nice to receive something other than just a ‘baby product.' The library is ‘there for everybody,' she says and she recommends that before buying a book, people borrow it from the library first.
