Vincent

One of the earliest recipients of a Books for Babies pack in 1990, Vincent had his own library card within a couple of months of receiving the pack. Already frequent library users, the pack nonetheless inspired Vincent's parents to start getting resources from the library for him somewhat earlier than they had for their previous children.

'Sitting down with a book,' says Joanne, 'provided the opportunity for a quiet cuddle.' Vincent still has, and uses, his library card, and at the moment is an avid fan of the Harry Potter books.

Tim

Tim's family was a regular customer of the library before he was born, but the Books for Babies pack was still a 'lovely surprise'. The book was looked at a lot before it 'fell to bits'.

'Expose your children to as many good books as possible,' Tim's mother adds. ‘Read and read and read.'
