Tracey with AnnabellTracey says that she would not have thought of enrolling her daughter as early as six months if she hadn't received the Books for Babies pack. The book provided something for Annabell to focus on in her cot, and also helped her develop her motor and cognitive skills. Early enrolment generated awareness of the large number of books suitable for babies at the library.

Tracey stresses that enthusiasm for books and reading must come from parents who need to make the effort to share books and other language experiences with their children. She recalls that when her second daughter, Charlotte, was born with Downs Syndrome, the Books for Babies pack was such a positive gift.

Lucy, Emma and ColleenAlthough the family was already a great library user, the Books for Babies pack was a reminder of just how early children can become involved in reading. Starting the process as babies provides parents and children with quiet, sharing times together, nourishing the imagination. 'Reading helps,' says the triplets' mother.
